The attorney general of Arkansas said Friday legal gun owners can open carry or travel in a vehicle with a loaded firearm as long as they are not in a place where guns are prohibited or attempting to unlawfully use a weapon against another person.
Open carrying of a gun can still lead to police questioning and arrest but is not a violation of Arkansas law according to the attorney general. Obviously criminals or those carrying a firearm with malicious intent can and will be prosecuted. If arrested investigators must show proof of “unlawful intent” for a person to be charged
Arkansas has joined other states like Maine making it legal to open carry guns for ones own protection without a permit.
